This is one of my favorite movies in recent years. It’s so delightfully and unabashedly weird! The casting is phenomenal: John Cena and Idris Elba play off of each other so well, and every one of the main cast is loveable. My personal favorite is Ratcatcher 2 because she’s so sweet, and she has a very cute rat friend named Sebastian.
I’ve seen the movie twice now in the last few months (once with my mom at the end of January and again this weekend with my partner) and the second watch was just as enjoyable as the first. There’s plenty of comedy and action, and even a few heartfelt moments that didn’t feel sappy or out of place. The editing is also top-notch and reminded me of Scott Pilgrim at several points.
I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys movies. This is technically a comic book movie based on the DC series of the same name, but no familiarity with the source material is needed. 9/10, I wish more movies like this were being made.
